John’s healthcare experience spans more than two decades and includes an extensive background of leadership in hospital, imaging center, home health & hospice, physical therapy & rehab, assisted living and adult residential care in addition to medical management & billing companies.
Over those decades and in hospital systems ranging from 80 ~ 300 beds and revenue bases between $30 and $125 million a year, John has served in Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer capacities. Under his watch, his hospitals were among the Top 100 in America, twice placed in the top 4% in employee satisfaction, and several times placed in the top 3% in patient satisfaction in multiple surveys.
John’s financial & healthcare management background began in 1988 at LSU where he earned a Masters in Health Services Administration and a BS in Accounting. Following the completion of his studies, he began his professional career in the hospital sector in the direct capacity of billing and physician practice management.
In 2004, John became co-founder of a series of healthcare related companies including Champion Management, LLD of Baton Rouge. Under that umbrella company, John current owns and manages several diagnostic imaging centers across the south, owns and manages a Home Health & Hospice Agency, and owns an adult residential facility and a property management company. Additionally, he operates a billing and medical management company that shares John’s strong financial and healthcare facility management skills with other healthcare providers. Champion Management currently manages over $50 million in annual revenues across its family of companies.
Giving to his community and church is part of John’s life mission. He attends First Baptist Church Zachary, where along with his wife, Amie LeTard Stagg teaches High School Juniors and teaches youth leadership classes. Together they have three children including Collin married to Lindsay Black, Odom, and Jamie.
John is an avid sports enthusiast, a long time LSU supporter, and an outdoorsman.
He is a past Diplomat of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a past Advanced Member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA, CHFP). John is also a past member of the Executive Committee of the Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) for LSU, is past chairman of the TAF Audit Committee and currently serves on the TAF Finance Committee. Additionally, John is Vice President and co-founder of Legendz Sports Academy, a non-profit organization that mentors young men and women through sports and is also Chairman of Zachary Athletic Foundation (ZAF), which combined Bronco Backers and Century Club under his leadership.
